Establishing a personal connection and gaining clarity goes hand in hand with finding each individual the appropriate support. If we can take a person from a chaotic place of confusion to a full understanding of any underlying issues, the chances for success and outlook for a brighter future increase dramatically.

When 17 year-old Alex* called Amudim, he was anxious and struggling to express what he was going through. He couldn’t fully pinpoint what was wrong, and after speaking with a close friend, he reached out to us for help. Our case manager conducted a full intake and helped Alex gain some insight, which provided some immediate relief. For years, he had been dealing with a negative relationship with his parents, which had led to bouts of depression and addiction to pornography. Alex was dealing with feelings of guilt and shame and was desperate for a way out of the dark place in which he found himself. Our case manager set out to find an appropriate therapist who could help Alex explore any past traumas, develop coping skills, and work on reconnecting with his parents. As he is still in yeshiva, we helped Alex create a schedule that would allow him to seek help, and connected Alex with a Rabbi who could provide spiritual guidance.

After continued follow ups, we are happy to report that Alex is maintaining his weekly therapy appointments and feeling optimistic that he is on a path to healing so that he can soon graduate and lead a healthy and productive life.

If you or a loved one is struggling, Amudim is just a phone call away. We are always here to help find whatever guidance is necessary.
