As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, Amudim’s work doesn’t end, with the current reality bringing new and evolving challenges. With Pesach at our doorstep, we have numerous clients who need support, especially those who were abused by family members and are stuck at home with their abusers; for those not facing this crisis, the anxiety of being quarantined in the home where their abuse occurred is taking its toll. We are also trying to find solutions for those who cannot be at home; but due to the current situation, we are having a hard time finding a place for them to go.

At the same time, we are working tirelessly to ensure that those in recovery stay strong and that the current situation doesn’t set them back, where they are more prone to return to their addictive behaviors.

Amudim is also finding ways to provide guidance and coping techniques by hosting live events to address today’s reality. This past Monday night, we had Menachem Poznanski, Director of The Living Room, present on Pesach and sobriety in these troubling times, watch here. Last night, Dr. David Pelcovitz presented on anxiety relating to trauma as it pertains to Pesach and quarantine, which can be seen here.

We were also featured this week on i24 News, click here to watch, where we discussed the amazing response we have seen to our anonymous support line, which with over 60 volunteer mental health professionals manning the lines and over 300 calls coming in, has been a tremendous source of comfort for those in need.
