It’s difficult to believe that it’s been 2 years since the passing of our beloved founder and driving force, Mendy Klein, Z”L. Please see our video tribute below honoring Mendy’s legacy. While we miss him every day, we know that he is smiling upon us in the midst of the busiest time Amudim has ever seen. Mendy’s vision was always to push us to the max; and with the current pandemic, our max is beyond anything he could have imagined.

Our call volume this April increased by 57% from the same month last year. Our devoted staff is incredible, showing what public service truly means. Not only is the team overloaded with more cases than ever, but the complexity of each client during quarantine has included an increase in domestic violence, abuse, lack of shelter, keeping people safe, and the risks this all presents to those in treatment and recovery. We find ourselves in mental health awareness month facing one of the greatest global mental health crises in history. As you know, at Amudim, we don’t stop. We confront crises on a daily basis. When corona presented itself, we increased our commitment to the community in countless arenas.

While our Giving Tuesday Now fundraiser was a huge success, all the money raised has already been allocated for the mental health needs of clients directly related to COVID-19. Each week that passes, however, presents an increasing call volume of people requiring assistance, and we need money to help them. We have never before dealt with a crisis of this proportion; in order to continue providing support, we need your help more than ever. Our demand is significant, and we are grateful for all that you do to help fund the community’s needs.

As we have seen the success of our anonymous support line, which has fielded over 1,600 calls to date, we are pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated line for the English-speaking population in Israel. Beginning May 17th, the support line in Israel will be available Sundays – Thursdays, 11am –11pm IST. The phone number is 02-374-0222.

As always, if you need help, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
